MOD 2 Done ✅ GNAV, PERF & the Push Toward MOD 3

MOD 2 Done ✅ GNAV, PERF & the Push Toward MOD 3

December 21, 2025 2 min read

After what felt like a very full-on few months, I’ve officially ticked off MOD 2 — and let me tell you, it was tougher than MOD 1 by a long shot.

This module covered General Navigation, Performance, Comms, and Instruments, and out of all of them, GNAV and PERF definitely took the crown for the most difficult. I’d heard that MOD 2 was a bit of a step up, but wow — it really made me work for it.

That said, I’ve mainly been using ATPLQ this time round, and it’s been a game changer. The way the question bank is structured helped me drill down into the weaker areas and get used to the style of questions I was seeing in the exams. I wouldn’t say it made things easy, but it definitely made the impossible feel possible.

Now that MOD 2 is behind me, I’m finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The ATPL theory journey isn’t over yet, but with each module passed, the finish line is creeping closer — and the thought of finally getting airborne keeps me going.

So, what’s next?

MOD 3 is coming up fast, and with it comes Flight Planning, Air Law, Operational Procedures and RNAV. I’ve already heard Flight Planning can be a beast, but at this point, I feel like I’ve been through enough battles to handle what’s next.

Honestly though, what I’m most excited about isn’t just the next set of subjects — it’s the fact that I’m getting closer to actually flying. All this theory has been building up to that moment, and I can’t wait to swap highlighters and PDFs for a headset and a runway.

Final thoughts

MOD 2 pushed me harder than I expected. There were moments where it felt like it was never going to end — especially with GNAV and Performance — but sticking to a routine, focusing on question practice, and just reminding myself why I’m doing this made all the difference.

If you’re heading into MOD 2 soon: take it seriously, pace yourself, and don’t be afraid to hit the bank hard. It’s a slog, but it’s one step closer to that cockpit.

Let’s bring on MOD 3.
Fuelled by coffee and the dream of flying.
