MOD 1 Done ✅ Moving into MOD 2: What’s Next in Ground School

October 21, 2025 3 min read

That’s MOD 1 officially in the bag — and honestly, I couldn’t be happier with how it went. After all the late nights and long study sessions, seeing it all pay off in the results feels amazing. If you’re wondering how to tackle MOD 1, trust me: it’s hard work, but completely doable if you stay consistent.

Now it’s time for MOD 2 — which, by all accounts, is a step up in difficulty. But I’m actually looking forward to the challenge (and also to getting it over with, if I’m being real).

✅ Looking Back at MOD 1

Subjects covered:

  • Meteorology (MET)
  • Aircraft General Knowledge – Systems (AGK SYS)
  • Principles of Flight (POF)
  • Human Performance and Limitations (HPL)
  • Mass and Balance (MAB)

This module was all about building the core foundations. It was definitely intense, especially with how fast-paced the content delivery was, but I felt like the subjects connected well and built on each other.

🧠 What Worked for Me

  • ATPLQ was 100% the way to go
The question bank was invaluable — not just for revision, but for learning how the exams actually phrase things. That made a massive difference going into each test with confidence.

  • Flashcards + Anki
Still my go-to. Daily reviews with spaced repetition helped me retain info without feeling completely overwhelmed.

Overall, I’m buzzing with the results — it’s proof that the method works if you stick with it.

🚀 Looking Ahead to MOD 2

Next up, the subjects for MOD 2:

  • General Navigation (GNAV)
  • Communications (COMS)
  • Performance (PERF)
  • Instruments

Compared to MOD 1, this module definitely feels like it’s going to push things further — especially with GNAV and Performance. There’s a lot more calculation-based content, and I’ve heard from others that the workload ramps up quite a bit.

😅 First Impressions?

Definitely more of a challenge — there’s no sugar-coating that. But I’m ready for it. After getting into a good study routine during MOD 1, I feel more prepared to take this on. The goal now is to keep up that momentum and stay disciplined through the long study hours.

✈️ Final Thoughts

MOD 1 was tough, but it proved that hard work actually does pay off. If you’re starting ground school soon, just know that the first few weeks are the hardest — once you settle into a rhythm, it becomes manageable (even if it never becomes easy).

Now it’s all eyes on MOD 2. Time to knuckle down, keep the revision tight, and push through the next set of exams. I’ll update again once this one’s done — hopefully with more good news 🤞

If you’re about to start MOD 2 or want to know more about how I tackled MOD 1, feel free to drop a comment or reach out — always happy to share what’s worked for me so far.
